Acrylic, aluminum, roofing tar, and pulverized graniteĀ on board

This piece is meant to represent the relationship between humanity and the divine as well as the communion human beings experience through the rites they use to connect with one another and their concept of God. Using materials such as raw gold metallic pigment and intentionally framed in heavy carved wood, this painting can be viewed as a contemporary representation of an icon wherein the divine is conveyed through color and texture as opposed to literal representation.
