The Wine Dark Sea

Acrylic and silver leaf on canvas

An abstract seascape. With this painting, I used a dragging technique and thinned acrylic paint as a watermedia to create an ethereal quality. The colors bleed into one another revealing different intensities depending on light and perspective. This painting, the first I completed after a 20 year hiatus from painting, ended up with my friend Jenny after she showed me a photograph she took of a beautiful rose colored city in India rising above the dark sea below it.
